HISTORYHere App Lesson Plan
Objective:
To help students learn about the different historical places throughout the United States using technology. HS.14. Create and use maps, technology, imagery and other geographical representations to extrapolate and interpret geographic data.
Assessment: Each student will be given a place (that they have already seen in their textbook or a lesson) that they can find on the app and create a representation of the historical significance. They can do so in any creative form they would like.

Lesson: This assignment will be built up from the previous classes. They will be going deeper into the historical places they have been learning about during past classroom discussions and readings. This assignment is meant to be a midterm or final project to work on collecting historical data, and one of those sources must be this app.
Barriers: The barriers that I anticipate will be the availability of the app to some students. However, many schools now rent out ipads that we can use in class. I would also leave time in class where students can share their devices with other students to complete the assignment.
TPACK
The lesson itself is based off an app that needs a phone or iPad to be used. Students will need to have some knowledge about how to use the app and how to use the device in general. As they work on the project and go further into the lesson, they will gain more knowledge about apps such as HISTORYHere that use virtual tours and mapping. This lesson allows students to have freedom and discover information on their own. They will be asked questions and given the ability to explore using the app and other resources. The lesson will be about historical places and events and their significance. The content will be learning about maps and how to narrow in on information about a specific historical place. The lesson is meant to be fun and exciting so students enjoy learning about historical places.
SAMR
This lesson falls under Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. The app is one resource the students can use, as well as their textbooks and other resources they want to use. (Augmentation) However, the app is the main part of the lesson and has to be used. All students need an smartphone or iPad in order to use the app and complete the assignment. (Modification) This app allows the students to take tours of some of the places (they are working on more), which is something you cannot usually do. They create a historical tour and give historical context to the place or event. (Redefinition)
Kelsey is this the full lesson? I'm not seeing the link to the lesson plan
