My lesson instructs students on solving two step linear equations. It was designed as a review day lesson where students practice what they already know.
Application of Theoretical Frameworks:
This application fits into the technology framework as it allows students to work with technology. Giving them the freedom to work at their own pace and offers feedback. It fits into pedagogy as it offers immediate positive and negative feedback fitting into more of a behaviorist approach. Form the instructional strategies link I believe it could fit into Skinner’s 5 as it starts simple, gets more difficult, repeats directions, offers immediate feedback, and has positive reinforcement. It fits into content knowledge as it is set for their grade level and has been built upon. This lesson would continue to build upon previous knowledge of algebra and it would provide experience solving simple algebraic equations.
When first looking into the SAMR framework I was thinking that IXL would fit into the substitution spot as it offers students the ability to do the same work as was previously done with a pencil and paper. However, since IXL offers immediate reinforcements via feedback I feel that this app/lesson could also fit into the augmentation stage. To my knowledge the augmentation stage allows computer integration, saves paper and allows for both teacher and student immediate feedback.
